Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries Ltd’s chairman, is now the fifth-richest man in the world, after a rise past Warren Buffet, Forbes reports.
The 63-year-old is now worth $74.6 billion, exceeding $72.7 billion as of Wednesday from Berkshire Hathaway’s CEO, Buffett, according to Forbes’s billionaires’ list.
Mukesh Ambani’s digital company has seen a series of deals and his corporation’s shares have more than doubled since a low in March.
All this came after RIL’s Jio Platforms got more than $15 billion from companies like Facebook Inc and Silver Lake in investments.
And last week, Google agreed to buy a $4.5 billion stake in Jio Projects Ltd, adding to a range of major US investments in an online company that has almost 400 million users in India
For Rs 337.4 billion, the search engine will acquire 7.7 percent of the fast-growing Internet unit.
The other billionaire in the list was Jeff Bezos of Amazon leading the list with $185.8 billion, followed by Microsoft’s Bill Gates with $113.1 billion. Bernard Arnault and his family are $111.8 billion 3rd on the list. Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook is the fourth richest individual with a net worth of $89 billion.
