QUETTA:The officers said that a car bomb exploded late on Wednesday, killing four and wounding 11 people in a luxury hotel parking area in the south west of Quetta, Pakistan.

Ambassador China in Pakistan stayed in the hotel, but wasn’t there when the bomb exploded,” said Sheik Rashid Ahmad, Pakistan’s Interior Minister. Minister for Home Affairs Ziaullah Lango said the envoy was okay.

The police official Nasir Malik told Reuters, “An explosion was hitting the parking area at the Hotel Serena, “Eleven” people were injured. Waseem Baig, an officer at a local civil hospital, said that four people had died, while several others were in critical condition.

Ahmed told the local ARY News TV “A car full of explosives exploded in the hotel. The Taliban of Pakistan claimed the responsibility for the bombs.

The suicide attack used his explosive car in the hotel by our suicide bomber,” a spokesman of the militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) told a Reuters reporter in a text message.

Earlier this evening Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong, according to a tweet by the Provincial Government Speaker Liaquat Shahwani, met provincial Chief Minister Jam Kamal in the city.

The journalists told Lango:  “I only met him. He’s highly motivated, “Adding an envoy to Quetta on Thursday would complete his visit. A request for comments was not answered by the Chinese Embassy.

Near the Iranian Consulate and the parliament building is the well-fortified hotel. Quetta is the capital of the mineral-rich South-West of Balochistan, a province bordering on Iran and Afghanistan. Local nationalists long wanted a more regional resource to be a scene of a low-level insurgency.

The newly expanded Gwadar deepwater port is home to a planned $65 billion investment in the economic corridor of the Gwadar Belt and Road Initiative in China. It was not clear whether the envoy or its delegation members were a target of the attack but before the Taliban militant attacked Chinese citizens and their interests in the region.
